Travel Agent: Jeffrey Scott
Central Europe and New Zealand.
Why is that your favorite destination?
First of all, I love mountains and have always been drawn to them. But the Alps offer so much more. I was lucky enough to travel there many times as a tour director, and even attended university there in Salzburg, but their beauty and history never get old. Nowhere else in Europe can people share different ends of the same valley and speak completely different languages, with different cultures, cuisine and sensibilities. I am also in love with the Southern Alps of New Zealand. There is perhaps no place I know more beautifully situated than the town of Queenstown on Lake Wakatipu.
What destination is on your bucket list?
I am still looking for a chance to visit Ireland-my best friend hails from County Cork--and I'd love to visit Antarctica and South Africa!
Why is that destination on your bucket list?
I am attracted to Antarctica because it is one of the last great frontiers and there are certainly important lessons to be learned there. Plus, my friends took a cruise there recently and sent me photos of them on the ship soaking in an outdoor hottub and sipping champagne. I have always wanted to visit South Africa to see the wildlife at Kruger National Park, but also because I am interested in its complicated recent past.
What destinations have you visited?
As a tour director for over 30 years, I have been fortunate to visit many places. Some only a few times, like Southeast Asia, China, Russia and Branson, Missouri, and many others very frequently. There were lots and lots of flights down to the South Pacific (I have visited Australia and New Zealand over 100 times and of course central Europe. I especially loved visting Germany, Austria, Switzerland, France, Poland and the Czech Republic. I have also been a cruise director on the Rhine, Main, and Danube and am passionate about river cruising. Please ask me!
Why should someone book their vacation with you?
Having guided thousands of travelers over the years, I have a unique perspective on what it is about the travel experience that truly creates lasting and wonderful memories and, also, how to avoid some of the most common pitfalls. As a tour director, I typically travelled overseas about 230 days per year. Even after all this time, I am still happiest when traveling and anxious to share this excitement, attention to detail and dedication to 5-Diamond Service with our members.
Are you fluent in a language other than English? If so, what other language(s) do you speak?
I speak enough Italian and French to get by in most situations, but really just speak German. I attended High School there and also a year of University, and worked at a resort in the Black Forest for 2 years,
One thing you’d like our members to know about you?
I come from a small town in Maine and have always lived within 40 minutes of the ocean, yet I had sky-dived, bungy-jumped, married, had twins and met Art Linkletter before I tasted my first lobster!
